Misperception and gestalt
This is a study in misperception based on key principles of Gestalt theory — the psychological current that revealed perceptual reactions to apparent forms.
The phenomena of good form, proximity and similarity are exploited to lead the viewer to perceive an abstract spatial composition instead of the figure that actually generates it.
In brief: a well-defined subject is abstracted until it becomes background, while everything surrounding it turns into living, pulsating matter.
Can you see it?
Women are the background of my life — or an integral part of it? They are, when they choose, the softest thing I know, so soft that even what surrounds them becomes soft. I exalt the space around them as if it wished to possess them — a space that prevails only in appearance, because the true subject of the work remains the woman.
