Dee

Around 1998, after painting with every traditional technique, I wondered whether artistic interpretation could also make sense on a computer.

The Dee series was born from that question: I began distorting low-resolution photographs, extracting every detail through light, contrast and filters. I exalt natural and artificial elements without ever falling into the imitation of brush-stroke styles, giving rise to a new aesthetic.

Over time the Dee series evolved, enriched with new signs and dynamics. The finest works display three compositional layers: colour, form and detail. In that last layer — much like Rorschach inkblots — one can make out other icons, symbols, or entire universes.

Will and chaos blend in the digital creative process, which I call "non-linear" for the possibility of intervening at different moments and on multiple elements simultaneously.
